Indian star Cheteshwar Pujara could net for Sussex – by signing a new contract.
The Sharks skipper said there was a good chance of being back in Hove next year.
Pujara has accumulated runs in the Championship and 50-over cricket this season and has been an inspiration to teammates.
When asked if he would return next season, he told The Argus: “Hopefully. Fingers crossed.
“I can’t say much at the moment, but it’s very likely that I would (return).
“Yes, I would love to come back.”
For now, Pujara is concentrating on the final group game of the Royal London One-Day Cup on Tuesday against Middlesex in Hove (11am).
A win would secure the semi-finals at home, but anything else could see them face an eliminator on Friday – or sit out altogether.
Albion couple Solly March and Adam Webster, both keen cricketers, were in Hove to wish Pujara and Delray Rawlins the best of luck for the big game.
The Seagulls duo donned pads and hit Rawlins in the nets.
