All-Ireland multi-award winner James McCarthy celebrated the season in style this past weekend by marrying his longtime partner Clodagh O’Mahoney.
The Dublin footballer and his new bride were married at the lavish Luttrellstown Castle Resort, in Co Dublin.
Luttrellstown has hosted a number of celebrity weddings over the years, including to David and Victoria Beckham, and the cold weather over the past week has made James and Clodagh’s wedding photos all the more special.
The couple got engaged in December 2020, shortly after Dublin’s final All-Ireland, McCarthy said at the time: “Biggest win of the year. Merry Christmas.”
Renowned wedding photographer Jenny McCarthy captured the special day and in a social media post she wrote: “I had the best day of my life yesterday taking pictures for the very special day. Theirs is Luttrellstown Castle Resort. Also being surrounded by almost the entire Dublin team, that’s also fun.”
Many of McCarthy’s Dublin teammates, including Evan Comerford and Brian Feton, helped post many Instagram posts.
Comeford, McCarthy’s Ballymun Kickhams club mate shared an image with Ballymun native Paddy Small.
Midfielder Fenton is pictured alongside other Dublin mainstays over the past decade, including Ciaran Kilkenny, James McCarthy and John Small.
Legends of the past including current manager Dessie Farrell, former manager Jim Gavin and former captain Stephen Cluxton also attended.
Meanwhile, the Dublin GAA also congratulated the newlyweds, writing on Instagram: “Congratulations James and Clodagh on their wedding day.”
McCarthy, 32, is one of the most honored players in GAA history. To date, he has won eight All-Ireland titles, 11 Leinster titles, six national football tournaments, as well as numerous club-level titles.
