Becky – who is suing Coleen over her “Wagatha Christie” allegations – reacted after learning her ex-husband was called as a witness in their upcoming trial.
She said that describing it as a “dark turn”, reporting that Steve Clarke, 56 years old – whom she has previously accused of domestic abuse – is preparing to testify against her that has caused her physical trauma.
Mother-of-five Becky, who has been married to Steve for 10 months since 2005, branded the development as “victim shame” and vowed: “I feel it’s time for me to have something to say about it.” maybe need to start speaking out a little more.”
In an emotional 650-word post, she wrote: “It feels like a merciless threat to destroy my survival. I’ve been pretty open about how emotionally traumatized I am.
“This legal case has always been about removing my name. I feel that these latest stories are the shame of the victim. It is really important that women feel empowered to speak out about their experiences and not be ashamed of them or use them as a weapon against them.
“Speaking out provides support to thousands of women trying to find the strength to break the cycle and leave their relationships.
“When it is used against you, whether in the media or some other medium, it is deeply hurtful and terrifying.
“I have my support and I’m as strong as I can be, but I’m disappointed to be forced to face such headlines (whether they’re true or not).”
The Sun understands that businessman Clarke – who denies all allegations of domestic abuse – has provided a witness statement to Coleen’s attorneys and is likely to be trusted as a witness during the trial. Their defamation charges began in April at the High Court in London.
