Sir Paul McCartney warmed up his chords with a secret gig in a sold-out pub on Friday, ahead of his headliner performance at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.
The music icon, 80, is set to make history as the oldest solo frontman when he wraps up the Pyramid Stage at Worthy Farm in Somerset tomorrow night (June 25). .
However, the Beatles member treated some fans to a performance, providing a special opportunity to see the legendary artist up close and personal.
He played a small venue in Frome as a warm-up for Glastonbury earlier this evening, with him performing in front of 600 fans at the Cheese & Grain venue in Somerset.

The intimate performance began with a performance of The Beatles’ classic I Wanna Be Your Man, with a special concert prep list including the solo track Junior’s Farm.
The singer – known as Macca – opted for a pale shirt and a pair of blue jeans for the performance, and he was photographed upon arrival at the venue with his wife Nancy Shevell.
He told the crowd, “Good evening, Frome. Why do I get the feeling we’re going to have a good time? We’ve got some old songs and some new songs and some crossover songs. interstitial.”

Those lucky enough to make it to the show venue paid a bargain price of just £25 for the show – a fraction of the price of tickets to see McCartney perform live on stage.
VIP guests at the show in the early hours of this evening included Olivia Harrison, 74, widow of George Harrison, late best friend of the Beatles, actress Leslie Mann, 50, and Brian Johnson, 74, from AC/DC band.
Security staff asked fans to seal their phones in an opaque bag so they could not be recorded for the surprise performance, which was only announced yesterday.

Sarah McDonald, who was there with her family, said before the show: “We were so happy to see him. When the post about the ticket came out, everyone sprinted.”
After the special event, when leaving the stage, Macca thanked the fans, saying: “Thank you Frome-anians, we had a good time here tonight. Here’s an opinion good.”
The singer performed at the Market Yard venue in the early hours of this evening, with doors opening at 4pm before he stepped onto the stage at 5pm.
The venue boasts on its website for pre-show gigs, saying: “What a great opportunity to see Paul warm up to his eye-catching Glastonbury performance this weekend.
“What an amazing thing…we were told this wouldn’t be his usual movie either so it was going to be an afternoon full of wonderful surprises.”
The 800-seat venue is a non-profit facility that hosts live entertainment, markets and festivals for the local community.
Despite its large size, Cheese & Grain is a popular stop for singers and performers ahead of the iconic festival with previous performances including Foo Fighters, Fatboy Slim and Robert Plant .
Sir Paul last appeared at Glastonbury in 2004.
Sir Paul has removed the Beatles classic Back in the USSR from his performances – including Glastonbury – in favor of Ukraine but fans can expect many other big hits from the comeback catalog of the Fab Four on the Pyramid Stage on Saturday night.
He was due to perform at Glastonbury’s 50th anniversary festival in 2020 but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, organizers were forced to suspend the event.
And the rocker shows no signs of slowing down when it was recently announced that all three of McCartney’s solo albums would be released together for the first time.
The three albums, “McCartney”, “McCartney II” and “McCartney III” will be released as a limited edition boxset on August 5.
