And Dec spooked Ant by pointing the camera at the overhead lights and asking him what he would do if someone fell on his head during the show.

They also showed fans a ‘reminder area’ never before seen on the show – where they stood during ad breaks to sort out what’s to come.

The pair also gave fans a peek inside the guest booth, where a famous face stood at each show to provide links between segments.

Sometimes things can go wrong

Audience members were also asked to dress up for the show, as if they were out on a Saturday night in town.

Then, when the show ended, Ant and Dec always thanked the audience before starting.

In 2020, Ant and Dec were left horrified when The live audience started laughing at the worst possible moment.

They had a wonderful surprise for the couple Petra and Simon Williams, who were lining up outside the set.

They have been told that the audience is full but they can get a seat if they hang around.

“What they didn’t know was that we actually saved two places for them because we were about to give them the surprise of their lives,” Ant said.

Dec added: “That’s because they’re part of an extraordinary family. They live in the northeast and have three lovely kids.”

Ant continued: “Tragically three years ago, they lost their daughter Darcey-Lee when she was just 9 weeks old.”

But Dec looked stunned as the audience burst into laughter.
