Inside the ‘game-changing’ Game of Thrones that lures guests in with costumes, weapons, and dragon skulls

A “game-changing” Game of Thrones visitor attraction has opened in Co Down.
Set parts, costumes, weapons and behind-the-scenes video clips are on display at Linen Mill Studios in Banbridge, used during the filming of the HBO fantasy series.
The show, watched by millions around the world, was mainly filmed on location and in studios Northern Irelandintroduce regions around the world.
Two years after the show’s finale aired in 2019, it has become a significant source of tourism.
Stormont Economy Secretary Gordon Lyons described the opening of the world’s first and only officially licensed Game of Thrones studio attraction as “game changing”.
Mr. Lyons described the show as a “television and cultural phenomenon” and expressed gratitude to the talent and local craftsmen who brought the story to the small screen.
“Northern Ireland as a prime filming location is testament to both the quality of the places we have here, and to the highly skilled screen industry, existing talent base.
“Therefore, I am delighted that Linen Mill Studios, which has a significant proportion of its scenes shot in Northern Ireland, has become the world’s first and only officially licensed studio in the world. Game of Thrones studio attraction, and a tangible symbol of the show’s legacy in Northern Ireland.

Visiting the attraction on Wednesday morning before it opened to the public on Friday, Mr Lyons said the timing of the post-coronavirus pandemic, “couldn’t have been more chance”.
“As international tourism reopens, Northern Ireland has added this world-class attraction to its already dynamic tourism offering,” he said.
“I congratulate the studio owners on bringing the project to fruition and look forward to seeing the positive impact the Game of Thrones Studio Tour has had on the local tourist landscape for years to come.”
