Diana Ross needs no introduction.

With his inspiring voice, illustrious career and captivating beauty, the 78-year-old can officially be called an icon.

Changing over 100 million albums both as a member of the Motown group, The Supremes, and as a solo artist, the mother of five has come a long way from Detroit.

As she prepares to return to the spotlight for Queen Jubilee and Glastonbury concerts, let’s take a look at the star’s extraordinary life.

Incredible career

Diana is best known as the lead singer of the girl group The Supremes, which became Motown’s most successful act of the 1960s, and one of the best-selling girl groups of all time.

The trio produced a number of catchy hits including Baby Love and Where Did Our Love Go?

But Diana wanted a bigger stage and more space and left the group in 1970 to embark on a solo career.

And that’s when it really happened.

Her debut solo album featured the number-one single Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.

The star then went on to score several top 10 hits with tracks including My Endless Love and Chain Reaction.

In total, she has more than 70 top songs.

Proof of her incredible longevity, the Guinness Book of World Records has recognized Diana as the greatest female artist in US and UK chart history.

Family life

Diana is a proud mother of five children.

The star has three daughters, Tracee Ellis Ross and Chudney Ross, with her first husband, Robert Ellis Silberstein, and Rhonda Ross Kendrick with recording executive Berry Gordy.

The singer married Robert in 1971 before the couple divorced.

Diana later married Arne Naess, Jr., with whom she has two sons, Evan Ross and Ross Naess.

She has eight nieces!

The couple broke up in 2000, but the Baby Love star’s family was just getting started.

20 years passed and Diana had eight grandchildren.

Her eldest grandson is actually a step-grandson after her son Evan married singer Ashlee Simpson in 2014.

Ashlee has a son, 12-year-old Bronx, from her relationship with Pete Wentz.

She and Evan currently share a daughter, Jagger, 6, born in 2015.

Announcing the family’s arrival on Instagram, Evan said: “We are so excited about the birth of our precious baby girl.”

Age-defying looks

Diana once said: “It takes a long time to become a diva.

And the star certainly won that title – in the best way.

While in high school, she enrolled in cosmetology school, practiced hairstyles for herself as well as taking on neighbors as clients.

But it was when she became the lead singer of The Supremes that her signature look, especially her beautiful delicate hair and soft eyelashes, took to the next level.

“My mom does all the hair and makeup herself, and always does,” her daughter Tracee tells Huffington Post.

“Lashes, the whole deal – she does it herself.”

At 78, Diana looks decades younger than her age.

Constantly asking about her skin care secrets, she once shared: “I never liked to think I was beautiful”.

Of course, she’s undeniably beautiful and seems to get more and more beautiful with age.

Back to the spotlight

Diana will lead the lineup for the BBC’s Platinum Party At The Palace concert to celebrate the Queen’s 70th anniversary on the throne.

The glitzy festival will feature three stages, 3D projection of the palace’s facade and 10,000 live spectators – all eager to catch a glimpse of Ms. Ross.

A real icon

The star will then head to Glastonbury on June 26, where well-dressed fans can enjoy a spectacular showcase.

Confirming the news, the legend said: “I am delighted and grateful to finally know that I will be seeing you at Glastonbury on the Thank U Tour in the UK to celebrate my new track album. .”

When she’s ready to release new music, fans will no doubt thank Diana – a true icon.
