The Wanted’s final tour will be remembered for the courage of Tom Parker, who took to the stage every night with his devoted bandmates in front of thousands of adoring fans – despite the ongoing agony of his battle with cancer.

Fresh from rigorous treatment in Spain, Tom joined friends Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Nathan Sykes and Jay McGuinness on a series of dates – determined the show must go on.

The band announced their greatest hits tour last September, a year after Tom was diagnosed with an inoperable tumor.

Ahead of the series of UK dates, Tom admitted he was “petrified” to performing again in front of thousands of fans after therapy left him exhausted and unable to walk.

Then, just before the tour was due to begin, the father-of-two was offered the chance to fly to Spain to receive revolutionary cancer treatment at a private hospital on the Costa Del Sol, which he couldn’t refuse.

The decision meant the rest of the band had to start the tour as a foursome before Tom was ready to return.

As Tom made his comeback, his loyal bandmates and their crew went above and beyond to ensure Tom felt as comfortable and supported as possible.

From setting up a special throne for Tom to sit on on stage when he could no longer walk, wearing matching sunglasses in solidarity and even sharing a bed with him as they hopped out of hotels, Toms were Friends there for him all the time.

Bandmate Max George hailed Tom as a “hero” as he prepared to join them under the bright lights.

Fans were equally delighted to see Tom, whose performance on the nightly shows received the biggest round of applause of the night.

Throughout the remainder of the tour, the group flooded their Instagram pages with snaps and videos of them performing as a five-piece and fooling around backstage.

Tom was seen sipping from a bottle of Peroni in one fell swoop and also appeared in another hilarious video wearing sunglasses and a fur coat.

As the tour wrapped up, Tom shared a final photo of the band on stage, describing them as a “dream team” in the caption.

The sentiment was quickly echoed by Max, Nathan, Siva and Jay, who posted similar images with the same message.

On the final day of the Liverpool tour, Tom’s wife Kelsey and their children, daughter and son, Aurelia, two, and Bodhi, one, were in the audience to cheer him on.

Less than a month later, Kelsey heartbreakingly announced to fans that her husband had tragically passed away.

Kelsey wrote on Instagram: “It is with a heavy heart that we confirm that Tom passed away peacefully earlier today with his entire family by his side.

“Our hearts are broken.

“Tom was the center of our world and we cannot imagine life without his infectious smile and energetic presence.

“We are truly grateful for the outpouring of love and support and ask that we all unite to ensure Tom’s light continues to shine for his beautiful children.
