iPhone 14 Plus review: I’ve waited weeks to try ‘bigger’ – is it actually better?

APPLE’s iPhone 14 Plus is finally here after its delayed launch.

I got the chance to try out the new model about three weeks after its smaller iPhone 14 sibling landed.

In almost every way (aside from a few key differences), the iPhone 14 Plus is the same as the iPhone 14.

That’s why you should read my for an in-depth look at the specs, features, and performance of the phone iPhone 14 review.

Here I want to focus on the differences.

First off, you’re paying £949 / $899 instead of the £849 / $799 price of the iPhone 14.

For the price, you get the same fast A15 chip, camera, storage and color options, and screen tech.

But the Plus is marginally heavier (about an ounce) and has a 6.7-inch display (vs. 6.1-inches).

I used the Purple model which is spectacularly pretty. It’s really smooth. If you want something different, Blue, Midnight, Starlight and Red are also available.

The big change is that the Plus offers longer battery life.

According to Apple, the Plus delivers 26 hours of video playback versus the iPhone 14’s 20 hours.

In actual use, the iPhone 14 Plus is very impressive. I found it difficult to shut down in a day even with extra use due to the newness of use.

That said, the iPhone 14 also comfortably lasts a day — so that might not be enough to sell you.

For me, the iPhone 14 Plus is the better buy.

The extra screen size is fantastic. You can see more in apps, videos and games are easier to see, and iPhone just looks more impressive.

However, it’s worth going to an Apple Store and picking up both sizes:

And remember: if it feels too big but you want the extra screen real estate, there are some iPhone hacks you need to know.

Apple has built in a reachability feature to pull down the top of the display – and there’s also a one-handed keyboard mode.

All in all, for people who prefer larger phones, the iPhone 14 Plus is worth an extra £100/$100.

I’d pay for it, and that’s without considering the extra battery life you get.

Ultimately, I’d still prefer an iPhone 14 Pro model overall, but at this price point, there’s unbeatable value – so it comes down to personal preference.
