IPHONE owners beware, partners may be tracking part of your handset to reveal your location.
This technique is encouraged on TikTok as a way to catch cheaters but it is a breach of privacy and trust which you might want to consider turning off.
A setting in your iPhone called Important Locations shows the places you’re most likely to go – and when you last visited.
A viral video of TikToker t_sply explains how it’s done has received over 30,000 likes on the platform.
“This is the best way to spy on someone,” he says, and warns that “relationships can be ruined.”
Only people who have shared their passcode really care, as any stalkers will need it to see what’s going on.
If you’ve shared your passcode with anyone, you might want to consider changing it.
But there is also another way – you can turn the feature off completely.
You can do this by going to Setting and scroll down Privacy.
From there, choose Location Services.
On the next screen, scroll to the bottom and press System Service.
Scroll down again until you find Important position.
Here, you’ll see the places your iPhone has recognized you tend to visit a lot.
This is supposed to help your phone “provide useful location-related information” in apps like Maps, Calendar, and Photos.
But on this page, you can turn it off by tapping the switch.
You may also want to press Clear history at the bottom to delete all records.
