MET Eireann has warned that frost and fog “could cause problems” as temperatures are set to plummet below zero.
This week, there will be light daytime rain before cold, foggy and icy nights.
Looking at the conditions ahead, the Met Eireann warned: “Although the risks often appear low, frost and fog can pose problems during the week.”
Atlantic counties will be impacted by rain and drizzle early this morning with drier and brighter conditions in the east.
Any lingering frosts in the eastern regions will soon dissipate.
Wet weather will move eastward during the afternoon and evening, becoming mild and patchy.
Today will be milder than recent days with highs between 8 and 11 degrees.
Rain will continue to break out tonight with some places foggy and foggy, temperatures between 4 and 7 degrees.

Tomorrow morning, the remaining downpours will quickly dissipate, leaving a dry, isolated day with light showers.
It will be cloudy with some sunshine likely in the south and east.
The highest temperature is from 7 to 9 degrees, plummeting to 0 to 4 degrees at night.
Wednesday night, it will be cold, foggy, accompanied by clear and prolonged waves, especially in the south and east of the country.
Thursday will be another dry day with a mix of clouds and sunshine, brightest in the south and east as temperatures can reach 6 to 9 degrees.
RAIN FOR COASTAL COUNTRIES
Thursday night, patchy drizzle will move through the western and northwest counties with clouds continuing to break.
The Met Eireann said some frost will appear under clear skies with fog and fog possible as temperatures drop to -1 to 3 degrees.
Friday will be another mild day with spells of sunshine but few clouds along the Atlantic coast.
High pressure will bring lots of dry and steady weather over the weekend, however patchy rain will affect southern and western areas, mainly counties near the coast.
