TEMPERATURES will plummet to -3C tonight as Met Eireann warns of fog and frost tomorrow morning.
National forecasters revealed Sunday night would be “cold and dry” but emphasized that there would be fog and dense fog over a wide area.
Weather bosses said on Sunday the mercury would soar as high as 10C in parts of Munster.
They said: “Today will be mostly dry. It will be clear all morning with bouts of sunshine developing and continuing for the rest of the day.
“Highest temperatures 6 to 10 degrees with mild to moderate northwesterly winds.”
They added: “This afternoon will be dry, bright or mildly sunny. Highest temperatures between 6 and 9 degrees with mild to moderate northwesterly winds, lightest in the Southwest.
“It’s cold and dry tonight, the sky is clear and cloudy. The lowest temperature is from -3 to +1 degrees with widespread frost.
“Fog and fog will also develop and will become dense in places, especially in the midlands.”

Met Eireann continued: “Monday morning will start with frost and fog.
“These areas will clear up in the morning with sunny spells developing. It will become a bit more cloudy in the West in the afternoon.
“Highest temperatures will range from 5°C in the northeast to 10°C in the southwest. Light southeasterly winds will be cooler in the southwest in the afternoon.”
Weather bosses say on Monday night it will be coldest early on over most of Ulster and Leinster with the lowest there being 0 to 5 degrees.
There will be milder and more cloudy conditions in the west and southwest that will extend eastward across the country, with later showers becoming common and heavy later in the night. with the fresh south-east wind just coming.
