Irish actress Jessie Buckley and singer Damien Dempsey among the stars take part in Culture Night

Irish actress Jessie Buckley, singer Damien Dempsey and musician Elaine Mai are among the famous faces who will present a live night of music, theater and dance from the Co Offaly Cultural Night.

From romantic music to art to comedy, fashion and literature, entertainment lovers will enjoy Friday, September 23, as host Annie MacManus will host a special evening of theater, dance and live speech from the edge of Lough Boora in Co Offaly.

RTÉ has ​​partnered with the Arts Council to present this celebration of Ireland’s unique wetlands.

Directly from Bord na Mána’s Lough Boora Discovery Park, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra will feature a wide range of artists throughout the evening including local artists and friends Tolü Makay and Felispeaks along with Music Generation Offaly/Westmeath choir.

Musician, songwriter and one of Ireland’s leading electronic music producers, Elaine Mai will join MayKay, Loah, Sinead White and Ailbhe Reddy in a pre-TV.

Singer Susan O’Neill will perform at Galway’s Claddagh Basin while Dubliner Damien Dempsey will perform Peat Bog Soldiers at the venue at Lough Boora Discovery Park.

East Clare violinist Martin Hayes will perform unique traditional tunes while Cork singer-songwriter Jack O’Rourke promises to take us gently into the autumnal sunset with Neil Young’s Harvest Moon , turns 30 years old this year.

Actress Jessie Buckley will visit artist Pat Curran at the Matt Talbot Community Trust in Ballyfermot, where he is preparing for his Culture Nights Exhibition.

Colm Tóibín heads to Heuston Station for the Arts Council’s Read Mór Book Giveaway, and Evelyn O’Rourke will capture the atmosphere of the capital live at Dublin’s Spencer Dock.

Arts Council Director Maureen Kennelly said the broadcast meant that those who were at home unable to go out could still take part in Culture Night.
