Irish banks appreciate by 700 million euros as investors welcome ECB interest rate hikes

Irish bank stocks rose sharply on Friday on European Central Bank (ECB) rate hikes, with Bank of Ireland and AIB adding nearly 700 million euros in value in a trading session.

Ank of Ireland was up 6.8 percent on the day as investors assessed the impact on profitability of an aggressive 0.75 percentage point surge. AIB’s stock rose a more modest 2.8 percent after rising sharply earlier in the day.
