Irish Rail passengers are experiencing ‘significant’ delays on the Dart after a medical emergency

Irish Rail has warned commuters to expect significant delays following a medical emergency on the Dart.

In an online post this evening, the rail service warned passengers that the 4.05pm dart to Greystones/Howth, Killester, was delayed as a passenger was waiting for an ambulance.

“[The] 16.04 Greystones/Howth are currently held up in Killester awaiting an ambulance. As a result, delays are expected in northbound services through Killester,” the post said.

The rail service issued an update after 6pm and said it was still waiting for an ambulance.

“Waiting for an ambulance. Northbound and Southbound services are operating with a delay of up to +40 minutes due to the Greystones/Howth delay at 4.04pm at Killester, with congestion caused as a result. Update will follow,” it said.

Another update said the 4.05pm service to Greystones/Howth was returning to Connolly with one sick passenger and station staff on board.

“The ambulance is on its way to Connolly. Services have resumed, with significant delays expected in the suburbs,” it said.

“Northbound and southbound services are operating with a delay of up to +40 minutes due to the 16.04 Greystones/Howth delay in Killester, coupled with the congestion this causes.”

The last update before 7pm tonight says passengers can expect delays of up to 50 minutes.
