Irish Weather: Met Eireann is forecasting sunny spells today with increased chance of scattered showers later in the week

After a windy and rainy start this morning, the rain will ease eastwards before midday.

et Éireann said “bright or sunny spells and well-scattered showers” will follow from the west. Towards the evening, selective rain will set in in the south-west. The highest temperatures today are between 13 °C and 16 °C.

Tonight it will be mostly cloudy with rain or drizzle over the southern half of the country.

It will be drier farther north, but rain will set in overnight in the northwest.

Ulster and North Leinster will experience the lowest temperatures of 1C to 4C tonight. Further south it gets milder with lows of 5°C to 9°C.

The forecaster said morning morning will start out mostly cloudy with patchy rain or drizzle but conditions will gradually brighten and lighten.

By early afternoon, showers will develop in the west and spread east across the country. Maximum temperatures of 13°C to 16°C are expected.

On Thursday night, showers or longer rain showers will move east across the country.

The showers will later be mostly limited to the Atlantic coastal areas. Lowest overnight temperatures range from 4°C to 8°C.

Met Éireann said Friday will be a cool, bright, crisp day with sunshine and scattered showers.

The highest temperatures are between 11 °C and 14 °C.

On Friday night there will be more showers with low temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees.

The forecaster said Saturday will bring bright or sunny spells and occasional showers. The heaviest and most frequent downpours will take place in the West. Maximum temperatures of 10°C to 14°C are expected.

In the night to Saturday there will be more showers and at times strong winds.

“Sunday looks like a bright day with some sunshine and scattered showers. Highs of 10 to 15 degrees with moderate westerly breezes,” Met Éireann said.

“At the moment it looks like wet and windy weather will be on the horizon for Ireland on Sunday evening and intermittent heavy rain early next week with the possibility of strong winds as well. It’s going to be a lot milder.”
