Is Bungie Secretly Teasing Its Next Game In Destiny 2?

An Easter egg for the next Bungie game could already be in the world, or rather one of the worlds that make up the Destiny 2 universe. This rumor comes from Christopher Barrett, a game director for a yet-to-be-announced title at Sony’s in-house studio, who caused a stir in the Destiny community with a cheeky tweet over the weekend.

Christopher, who tweeted this information in a post about his favorite video game Easter egg, responded similarly to a fan’s question about whether an Easter egg referencing the upcoming game Bungie is working on has been added to Destiny 2 like the secret of Destiny Awaits away in Halo 3: ODST all those years ago.

As you can imagine, this has led to a sharp rise in speculation as to what exactly this Easter egg might be, if it exists. The problem with this type of secret is that it’s incredibly difficult to know you’ve found it even when it’s right in front of you. That hasn’t stopped the community, however, who are already starting to piece together clues, no matter how small.

For example, Christopher used a specific emoji in the smiling moon face tweet thread embedded above, leading some to half-jokely believe that the moon might be hiding the location of that elusive Easter egg. Others are checking out this upcoming title’s codename: Matter. These could be valuable clues, but until now there hasn’t been a discovery based on any of the clues.

Anyway, in the minds of part of the community, the hunt is officially on. Whether they find the next big Bungie Easter egg or end up empty-handed remains to be seen.
