‘Is he still an Arsenal player?’

ARSENAL fans were left baffled after Mikel Arteta brought on his dying Sead Kolasinac during Sunday’s FA Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest.

The Gunners are leading 1-0 in a game where only Bernd Leno has impressed against the Championship side.

Arsenal fans were perplexed after Mikel Arteta introduced Sead Kolasinac as they were 1-0 down after just two minutes of play in their FA Cup defeat at Nottingham Forest

Arteta brought striker Alexandre Lacazette to young midfielder Charlie Patino before Winner of Forest – recorded by Lewis Grabban.

And with Lacazette, Eddie Nketiah, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard all on the field, the Emirates boss doesn’t have more attacking stars to showcase.

Instead of rounding up for an untested young star like Mika Biereth, Arteta brought in a forgotten man – left-back Kolasinac.

After the Bosnian’s introduction, a confused fan tweeted: “Kolasinac ??? Is he still an Arsenal player???”

Another wrote: “1-0 lead, 2 minutes left and you bring in Kolasinac…”

Angry third: “Why is Kolasinac still playing?? I don’t understand why he even trains with the first team.”

One suggested: “Kolasinac coming off the pitch is basically a plea for more players.”

Another also concurred with the tweet: “The extra Kolasinac alone feels a lot like some kind of ‘give me more players’ move.”

But Kolasinac – who spent part of last season on loan at Schalke – may not be at the Emirates much longer.

That is because Marseille interested in bringing Kolasinac – whose contract expires in June – to France, according to L’Equipe.

The Ligue 1 giants are third in the table after 19 games have played and could be in the Champions League next season – a promising proposition for the left-back.

It’s certainly a more appealing proposition than Watford, who already face relegation to the Championship.

Follow Telegraph, Manager Hornets Claudio Ranieri is looking for a new defender as he fights to keep his faction from being fired.

And the Bosnian is one of the names on the shortlist to help bolster his leaky defence, especially with Danny Rose leaving the club.

Kolasinac was one of seven defeats Arsenal were keen to get rid of last summer – but clubs scrapped his £100,000-a-week salary.
