Is This Is Going To Hurt based on real life?

This is going to Hurt is based on Adam Kay’s diary from when he was a junior doctor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

The comedy will show the introspection and life of a hospital doctor with sleepless nights and missed weekends.

The series will see Adam find his way through the hospital hierarchy, as he’s junior enough to work disabled hours but senior enough to tackle the incredible responsibilities that are often life-and-death.

This is Going to Hurt will also see how Adam tries to maintain his personal life while juggling 97 hours a week.

Who is writer Adam Kay?

Adam Richard Kay is a 41-year-old British writer, author, comedian and former doctor.

Kay grew up in a Jewish family with her younger sister Sophie.

His father is a doctor, and he often describes himself as a doctor as a difficult decision.

Kay’s family is from Poland, with the original surname Strykowski.

Kay attended an all-boys school before attending Imperial College London, where he studied medicine and graduated in 2004.

Kay worked for a number of years as an intern in obstetrics and gynecology, writing textbooks on the subject.

He worked as a doctor from 2004 to 2010, but then left the profession after a patient suffered an undiagnosed placental abruption that left him traumatized.

When is the NHS drama on BBC?

This Is Going To Hurt will premiere on Tuesday 8 February at 9pm on BBC One.

Each episode will be 45 minutes long and is expected to air weekly at the same time before.

All episodes that have aired will then be available to watch on BBC iPlayer afterwards.

The BBC announced the film in July 2018, but there was a long delay before production could begin as well as the Covid pandemic.

However, filming finally ended in June 2021.

The BBC drama series was originally meant to consist of eight episodes but has now been narrowed down to seven.
