Jennifer Ellison has said that being on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins is “refreshing” because “it doesn’t matter how many followers you have, you’re all the same”.
The Liverpudlian actress, known for her roles in the soap opera Brookside and its film adaptation The Phantom Of The Opera, was dropped from SAS’s screening program Sunday night.
Speaking of the experience, Ellison, 39, reflects on the show’s egalitarian nature.
“It doesn’t matter how many followers you have or what TV show you’re doing, they don’t care, they don’t discriminate at all, you’re all the same,” she told PA news agency.
“It’s really refreshing that you’re being treated well by these directing staff. You’re really back to the basics and I don’t think in any other show you’re going to get you really into that. “
Ellison is one of 14 famous rookies to join the Channel 4 show, along with Olympic athlete Fatima Whitbread, reality TV star Ferne McCann, actress Maisie Smith and professional dancer AJ Pritchard.
The former model also revealed the initial difficulty she encountered when she lost her dignity on national television.
She said: “At first I was really terrified of having to go to the toilet in the parade square, but you’re in the middle of the desert and you’ve just had Ferne drop her cock and have a little bit and last. When it becomes normal, we will all go together.
“So it’s crazy when you adapt to it because I really have a fear of public toilets, never mind a bucket with stuff and other people’s stuff in it.
“I like luxuries, my comfy bed, so it’s crazy how your body adapts to it, things you think you can’t cope with. Unbelievable.”
The show sees famous rookies living in the Jordan desert as they go through a series of relentlessly challenging missions directed by staffers Rudy Reyes, Remi Adeleke, Jason Fox, and Mark Billingham.

Speaking to PA, Whitbread said: “I’ve been asked twice before and I’m not sure I’m in the right headspace or if it’s the right thing to do, but on the third question, I thought I would only know. if I tried.”
She added: “I just draw on all my experiences over the years because when you live a life like I did in the early years, what you get is you can swim or sink.
“Fourteen years in institutions and living in a children’s home gave me an inner strength to survive. And that’s the main basic ingredient in anything in life that you do, it’s the strength and determination to get through and trust in yourself to get through it.
“As soon as you start to panic, it all goes up in the air and you lose control.”
Having also previously starred in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, Whitbred revealed that she “would love” to be on more challenging shows like Freeze The Fear With Wim Hof or the show something related to a partnership with Bear Grylls.
