It Takes Two continues to perform exceptionally well and has passed a pretty insane sales milestone.
In a February 3rd Hazelight Studios Twitter post, it was announced that It Takes Two had sold 10 million copies. This figure includes both digital and retail sales and includes copies sold across PlayStation consoles, Xbox consoles, Nintendo Switch and PC. It also comes just a few months after the launch of the Nintendo Switch version of the game, which released on November 4th.
The company notes in the tweet that twice as many players could have experienced the game. This is because the game is a cooperative multiplayer title that can be played as long as one person owns the game, meaning both players don’t need their own copy to be immersed in the experience.
The news comes just a year after the game hit 5 million total sales. That earlier milestone was reached less than a year after its initial release, with copies sold on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. This would mean that the game continues to see an impressive and continuous increase in sales long after its initial release.
There are a number of possible reasons for the extraordinary sales figures. In addition to the game being available on multiple consoles and platforms, It Takes Two has also received several major awards. This also includes the naming Game of the Year at the Game Awards 2021 and being hailed as an outstanding co-op game by a number of outlets (including ourselves).
It Takes Two is currently available for PlayStation consoles, Xbox consoles, Nintendo Switch and PC. For more information on the game, check out our related articles below.
