Ivan Toney could make his England debut tonight as Gareth Southgaet’s side resume preparations for November’s World Cup.
The Brentford forward received his first call-up as a reward for a brilliant start to the Premier League season and now has a chance to make his mark late in Southgate’s World Cup squad.
Toney won’t be the only one looking to prove something in England’s penultimate game before heading to Qatar in November.
England also play Germany on Monday but they will be relegated from League A of the Nations League if they lose to the Italians in Milan tonight.
Here’s everything you need to know.
When does Italy play England?
The game will kick off at 19:45 BST on Friday 25 September at the San Siro in Milan.
How can I view it?
It will be broadcast live on Channel 4 from 7pm. It will also be available as a live stream on All 4.
What’s new from the England team?
Kalvin Phillips’ injury and Jordan Henderson’s fitness concerns have opened the door to Declan Rice in midfield for Jude Bellingham.
Aaron Ramsdale was set to replace the injured Jordan Pickford in goal and Eric Dier is expected to start in defence, with options for Reece James and Ben Chilwell at full-back.
Fikayo Tomori could start ahead of Harry Maguire, but Kieran Trippier could also come in if Southgate decides to play a back five.
Harry Maguire and Raheem Sterling were set to start, meaning Ivan Toney may have to wait to make his debut off the bench.
Phil Foden, Mason Mount, Bukayo Saka, Jarrod Bowen and Jack Grealish will fight for the last spot on the grid.
Italy: Donnarumma; Di Lorenzo, Bastoni, Bonucci, Emerson; Jorginho, Barella, Tonali; Raspadori, Scamacca, Gnonto
UK: Ramsdale; James, Walker, Dier, Maguire, Saka; Rice, Bellingham; Sterling, Kane, Foden
United Kingdom: 11/18
England are overdue, but what has been overlooked is that their four-game winless streak in June marked the end of a long season. Southgate’s squad should be refreshed and look much stronger on paper than their Italian counterparts. England wins with goals from Kane and Sterling. Italy 1-2 England
