‘It’s envy’ – Keith Duffy says Boyzlife ‘don’t do’ Irish gigs because people are ‘negative’ here.

Keith Duffy has admitted Boyzlife “doesn’t” perform in Ireland because the people here are “negative” and “resentful”.
The Dublinery, who was previously a member of Boyzone, linked up with former Westlife singer Brian McFadden in 2016 and the two have since performed as the supergroup Boyzlife.
But Duffy said the duo prefer not to speak to the press or do concerts in Ireland anymore because “people don’t listen to them and they insult them”.
“We don’t do anything here. That’s our pick,” the singer told the Irish Mirror.
“We just wanted a peaceful life, we love what we do. In Great Britain we are very successful. They stand up for us over there and bring out the best in us.
“They come here and whether it’s radio DJs or certain journalists, they write derogatory terms. They’re just negative.
“Boyzone was like that and when we got back together in 2008 I never worked here again. It’s always been the UK, Australia, the Middle East, Europe.
“Brian and I just got back from Cape Town, we are on our way to Indonesia, now Bali and then Vietnam and Cambodia. Then it goes to Bahrain, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, but we don’t do anything in Dublin.”
“It’s really just resentful. People don’t listen and they insult… People assume it’s going to be s*** because they don’t like us from the ’90s.”
The 47-year-old said he doesn’t go out much in Dublin for the same reason, adding that he’s tired of people “shooting me off”.

“I rarely meet up in Dublin because when I go out you don’t know if someone is buying you a pint or pouring it,” he explained.
“My kids are all grown up now, my daughter is 22, Jay is 26 – they don’t want to read about their old man in the paper. They don’t want to hear DJs bang me, so it’s just easier for us.”
However, he insisted he still loves his hometown but said he wished people were kinder to each other.
“My homeland will always be Ireland. Dublin – I love it. I’m very passionate about the Irish and Ireland and I think we have fantastic hospitality but we’re horrible to ourselves, we’re horrible to ourselves.”
