It’s the new Alpine A110R – the lightweight with lots of power

The new high performance Alpine A110R has just been unveiled. The R for “radical” car is extremely light thanks to extensive use of carbon fiber. The total weight is only 1,082 kg (34 kg less than the A110S). That’s partly why it goes from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.

He says it’s designed to excite on the track but be street-legal.

Among the many elements designed to add drama to the drive are the unique carbon fiber side skirts. The tailor-made wheels are also made entirely of carbon fiber – as are the monocoque seats.

Power comes from a four-cylinder 1.8 turbo engine with 300 hp and is sent through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The maximum speed is 285 km/h.

Ground clearance is reduced by 10mm compared to the A110S. And thanks to the adjustable shock absorbers, it goes even lower. To deal with all that power, the Brembo high performance braking system features 320mm diameter compound discs front and rear. There are three customizable driving modes: Normal, Sport and Track.
