Ruth added: “People say to me, do I think he’s been long enough? That’s a tough question because I’ve never made it a point to put him in jail.

“I am human and I have struggled with the fact that I feel I have put this man in jail. He is the father of my children.

“The police were great at saying, ‘You don’t do this. He’s doing this to himself’.

“So it’s a tough question to ask how long he should get, because everyone’s final timing is different. I want to think and hope he turns out to be a better person.”
