Jack Whitehall’s friend Roxy Horner has opened up about a horrific health ordeal she endured after being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
The 30-year-old model has been dating comedian and actor Jack, 33, since 2020 and she has praised her lover for helping her cope with her diagnosis.
The cause of type 1 diabetes is unknown, but the condition can have serious health consequences if left undiagnosed or treated.
Roxy has opened up about her diagnosis for the first time, explaining that a friend had to call 911 two weeks ago when she lost her ability to speak over dinner when her blood sugar levels plummeted.

opening to The sun on Sunday Speaking of her health struggle and her boyfriend’s support, Roxy said: “Jack is my absolute rock, he’s so adorable.
“He was there when I was diagnosed. My parents and family live in Australia so he was my family. Were amazing.”
“I felt extremely tired and exhausted for a long time, I had no energy. I couldn’t even walk, it was exhausting, I felt like I was dying. I drank four to eight liters of water a day.”

Roxy went on to explain that she just knew something was wrong but that the doctors couldn’t test her for diabetes as she didn’t meet the usual criteria for such a patient.
She eventually went to the emergency room when she began to develop memory loss, and it was at this point that doctors made the shocking discovery that she had type 1 diabetes.
She also says a friend had to call an ambulance while they were out for dinner during a terrible health shock caused by the illness.
She said: “It was out of nowhere. My blood sugar went very low and I couldn’t get it back up, I couldn’t even talk to her to communicate, it was scary.”
The NHS states: “Type 1 diabetes causes the levels of glucose (sugar) in your blood to get too high.
“It happens when your body can’t make enough of a hormone called insulin, which controls blood sugar.”
Those suffering from this disease need to inject themselves with insulin while symptoms include thirst, blurred vision and excessive tiredness, among others.
pop singer Nick Jonas, potential bond actor James Norton, and former Prime Minister Theresa May have spoken about how living with type 1 diabetes hasn’t held them back in the past.

However, the long-term risks of living with high blood sugar without treatment can include kidney damage, as well as damage to the heart, eyes, and feet.
Having been diagnosed and treated with Type 1 Diabetes herself, Roxy wants to use her platform as a model to highlight the condition to spread awareness and information about the treatment.
