Parish council meeting descends into chaos

Local councilor Jackie Weaver wowed Andrew Lloyd Webber with a song he wrote about her.

Weaver – who became a household name during the lockdown when a recording of the chaotic Zoom meeting went viral – claimed that the track was made without her permission.

A Song for Jackie Weaver was released to social media by the 73-year-old composer last year – with lyrics by Don Black and Carrie Hope Fletcher.

The lyrics have the opening line: “When you’re stuck in a tunnel and can’t find your way out, thank God for having Jackie Weaver by your side.”

Discussing the track, Weaver called Lloyd Webber “extremely arrogant”, claiming that the composer and West End theater owner had not contacted her prior to uploading it.

She said: “It feels like he’s been using my name and my story to keep himself relevant. It wouldn’t take much for him to reach out but I’m too ordinary for people like Andrew Lloyd Webber.”

“I just feel that my name is good enough for him to use but I’m not even good enough for him to bother sending text messages or emails,” she added.

Commenting further on A Song for Jackie Weaver – which describes her as “our savior” – she added: “I wouldn’t even call it a song, I would call it one the song.”

Lloyd Webber previously spoke about composing the song on Good Morning Britain, with him saying it was “just a joke.” He added: “I did nothing on a Sunday afternoon.”

He said that some of his friends in the state received no references, with him commenting that it was “a very British thing.” He said the iconic council meeting was “type of operation.”
