Jada Pinkett Smith said her family has turned to ‘deeply reconcile’ after husband Will slapped comedian Chris Rock at last month’s Oscars.
The actress shared about the incident before her latest Red Table chat.
An announcement that appeared before the episode read: “Considering all that has happened over the past few weeks, the Smith family is focused on deep healing.
“Some discoveries surrounding our healing will be shared when time calls back.
“Until then…the table will continue to provide itself with the powerful, inspiring and healing testimonies of our incredibly impressive first guest.
“Thanks for joining us, Jada.”
During the star ceremony, Will, 53, jumped on stage and assaulted comedian Chris after he joked about Jada’s shaved head.
The never-before-seen footage of the Men in Black actor hitting Chris shows his wife’s reaction.
The video was shot from an unknown location behind Will and Jada’s top table, and begins when Will returns to the stage after the violent melee.
While the rest of the audience fell silent after Will’s outburst, the Matrix actress burst into laughter.
She appeared to lean forward and laugh as Chris responded to the attack, as he told Hollywood A-listers watching: “Will Smith just smashed me to death.”
Jada continued to watch the comedian as husband Will sat down in his chair and laughed a second time as Chris said it was “the greatest night in television history”.
It is unknown who recorded Jada’s reaction, or who later shared the clip on social media.
According to industry experts, despite the potentially career-ending slap, Will is still “inundated with job offers”.
Sophisticated showbiz pundits have claimed the I Am Legend star could be lured on the small screen to return – and there will be offers to appear in lower-budget action movies.
The future of Smith’s career and earnings are in the hands of the studios as “pause to think” about how to treat Smith in the future.
