Claressa Shields has told Jake Paul to forget about facing Canelo Alvarez after the YouTube star claimed he would beat the champion within the next three years.
Alvarez recently suffered the second loss of his professional career after being outed by Dmitry Bivol in Las Vegas. Paul reacted to the loss by claiming he was ready to share the ring with the Mexican and secured victory if the fight is fought within the next three years.
But multiple world champion Shields believes Paul will never beat Alvarez, tweeting: And Jake Paul won’t beat Canelo! Not now, not in 3 years! Never! Bye!” The ‘GWOAT’ also jumped into defense of the defeated Alvarez, adding, “I find it disgusting how everyone is slandering Canelo and using his loss to say mean things, questioning his legacy and abilities and themselves even making fun of him.
“It’s damn weird because the guy dared to be awesome! There’s no shame in trying! Shame never takes a risk!” Shields previously feuded with Paul over his presence in boxing after he criticized her for losing in her MMA pursuit.
Shields later claimed she could beat Paul in a sparring session and named him on her boxing list, but the two have since offered to squander their feud after she vowed his involvement in the Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano fight. Paul has won his first five pro fights and will return to the ring on August 13th.
Paul challenged Alvarez in the early stages of his career and is aiming for a shot at the Mexican to become world champion in the sport. The 25-year-old had previously hinted he would try to tackle the undisputed 168lb champion in the final outing of his career before retiring.

The YouTube star quickly took to social media to mock Alvarez for his defeat, tweeting, “And just like that, Canelo Alvarez loses to Dmitry Bivol,” he said in a video posted to social media. “An amazing fight from Bivol. I’m two inches taller than Bivol and 40 pounds heavier. Give me three years and I’ll take down Canelo the same way. He was on the ropes like he won, but he only won three rounds in the entire fight.
“Eddie Hearn, dammit, you can suck my cock. I’m coming and I’ll beat Canelo in three damn years, I put it on my mom. Congratulations to Dmitry Bivol, he showed that Canelo is easily beatable by a bigger man, which I have known for a long time. Believe in yourself and don’t listen to those British idiots like Eddie Hearn.
Alvarez refused to rule out meeting Paul ahead of his latest outing, even praising his influence on boxing and for bringing “new eyes” to the sport.
