Jake Sully seeks help from the Metkayina tribe in the ocean to “keep my family safe” in the newly released final trailer for Avatar: The Way Of Water.
The two-minute trailer shows Jake and Neytiri frolicking with their children as well as the burgeoning relationship between the Navi people and their sea kin.
Tonowari, head of the Metkayina clan, said: “Treat them like brothers and sisters, teach them our ways.
The children of both clans are said to be swimming together and learning to ride large winged fish.
Other underwater scenes include more amazing creatures like colorful jellyfish and large horned whales.
The trailer also shows some fight scenes with what appears to be humans using advanced technology and armed “mech armor”, as well as large floating battleships.
“Why did you come to us?” Tonowari asked Jake.
“I just want to keep my family safe,” replied Jake, played by Sam Worthington.
Along with the release of the trailer, screens in Times Square in New York were shown underwater of the film on Monday night.
The cast for the highly anticipated film includes Worthington and Zoe Saldana, which will also see the return of Sigourney Weaver as Dr Grace Augustine and Stephen Lang, who plays Colonel Miles Quaritch.

The original sci-fi epic from 2009 won three Oscars for its stunning visuals, cinematography, and art direction.
The film is set in the year 2154 and sees humans living in avatars so they can reach the planet Pandora.
Avatar: The Way Of Water is scheduled to hit theaters on December 16.
