Chelsea FC and some of its top stars tonight paid tribute to their passionate fans and ‘inspiration for many’ Jamal Edwards MBE, after tragic death of 31-year-old SB.TV founder.

Jamal businessman, who founded the online music and culture platform in 2006is a life Chelsea fans had previously interviewed the club’s young star, Trevoh Chalobah.

The death of the businessman, author, DJ, director, entrepreneur and community leader has left the club and its stars facing shock and grief.

A statement from Chelsea FC, accompanied by a photo of Jamal at Stamford Bridge, read: “We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Jamal Edwards.

“An inspiration to many, we are honored that he is part of our Chelsea family.

“Our thoughts are with everyone who knew and loved him.”

Just last October, Blues megafan Jamal chatted with Trevoh Chalobah for Chelseafc.com, to mark Dark History Month.

They discussed the young star’s thoughts on being a role model for young black African players, and being included in Antonio Rudiger’s side at the club.

At the time, Trevoh, 22, told him: “No one owes you anything, you have to earn it yourself.”

And tonight, on his Instagram story, the sports star shared a photo of the couple during their interview with Stamford Bridge in the background, and wrote: “RIP brother, Jamal Edwards, withering.”

England and Chelsea star Mason Mount shared an image of Jamal wearing a Chelsea shirt and kissing the club’s badge, on his Instagram story.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder wrote: “Always showed me so much love and support, proper, Chels! You will truly miss, RIP Jamal Edwards.”

Meanwhile 22 years old Chelsea FC and the aforementioned English right-back Reece James Twitter : “Rest in peace, Jamal Edwards. I am speechless.”

He then added: “Life is too short.”

Music industry pioneer Jamal, son of Loose Women star Brenda Edwards, is credited with helping launch stars like Ed Sheeran and Jessie J became global stars through his YouTube platform SB.TV.

Born in Luton before growing up on an estate in Acton, West London, he has made friends with some of the UK’s leading home-grown artists.

Jamal founded SB.TV at a time when the UK’s woeful scene was just starting to surface.

His significant work in bringing the underground scene to public conscience has helped him attract a number of famous friends, including Sheeran, Will.i.am, Professor Green and Rio Ferdinand.

He received his MBE at the age of 23 for his activities for music and is also known for his philanthropy and founding a series of London youth clubs in 2020.

Among his many accomplishments – including being an ambassador for the Princes’ Trust, Entrepreneurship in Residence at the University of Sussex and an honors degree from the University of West London – Jamal has also featured a health documentary psyche in the music industry.

Sharing about battling anxiety, he said at the time: “Anxiety comes to me at the most random times. I want to create awareness.

“A lot of times when music is my entry point, I feel a responsibility to talk about these other issues. I wanted people to talk to each other and they did, I’m happy.”
