James Argent is said to be “almost back to his best” after a scare earlier this month.
The Towie star, 34, said he suffered a “very severe relapse”, prompting his concerned friends to call 999.
James, known as Arg, has struggled with drugs and alcohol in the past, but managed to work through his problems and stay sober for two years.
However, he admits he has “had some caves in for a while” and recently had a glass of wine “for the first time in two years.”
James revealed that things were “escalating” and that although he couldn’t go into details of what he did, the effects of the alcohol had ‘hit him like a ton of bricks’.
However, the Real Dirty Dancing star did share a shot of him training today with Towie star Lewis Bloor.
And a friend told Sun : “James is doing very, very well.
“He is close to returning to his best form and considering how bad things were a week or so ago, everyone was pretty stunned how he turned the game around.
“But James is a boxer. His recent beam of light was exactly that, a blip, and he didn’t intend for it to turn into a long period of illness.”
Arg bravely fought his way to lose a giant stone 13 after having his stomach removed last year.
At its heaviest, the much-loved star weighed 27 balls.
Earlier this month, Arg was seen on the dance floor at close friend Sadie Stuart-Wright’s 30th home, wearing a white tuxedo and tank tops.
He also shared a photo of himself and Towie star’s brother, Mark Wright, Josh.
Josh captioned the photo: “Boy @realarg prouder day by day.”
After gastric bypass surgery, while part of his stomach was removed, the rest Arg had to learn a whole new way of eating.
He revealed: “I would start with a full English breakfast, then throughout the day I would eat fizzy drinks, chocolate, chewy candies and crisps.
“For lunch and dinner, I’ll have things to bring. I’ve been devouring half-eaten food since I woke up.”
The former hospital radio DJ, who once dated Gemma Collins, was warned by doctors that if he caught Covid he might not survive.
Timing was crucial, Arg had 70% of his stomach removed to limit how much he ate.
“Sometimes I still feel as hungry as before. When that happens, you eat too quickly. It makes you feel raw, sick, and incredibly uncomfortable,” he explains.
Arg added: “I learned the hard way. There were moments when I felt uncomfortable but now I’m used to it. ”
