James Argent opens up about his friendship with ex-girlfriend Lydia Bright

James Argent has affectionately referred to ex-girlfriend Lydia Bright as his ‘best friend’ as he has finally addressed the reconciliation rumors that have surfaced in recent months.

The TOWIE star, 34, raised his opinion on whether he and Lydia will ever get back together.

During an appearance on Loose Women, James shared how his ex-girlfriend had ‘rocked’ on him for the past two years as he battled drug addiction and physical problems.

James, who appeared in high spirits on the ITV show after dumping 13 giant stones, labeled Lydia his ‘best friend’ after Loose Women host Ruth Langsford asked him about the relationship their closeness.

“Lydia, who you’ve had a good relationship with for a long time, she’s a really good friend, and she still helps you out,” Ruth reminded.

In response, James was emotional: “Yes, Lydia is one of my best friends. The other day I bought a small gift for her daughter Loretta, I bought her her first pair of Yeezys. her, baby Yeezys, so Lydia loves that.

“I laughed because she said ‘I’ve got the fake ones and my daughter has the real ones!'”

However, Ruth hasn’t finished digging into rumors that the pair are ‘more than friends’.

The curious host asked James outright if there was any chance of the former couple getting back together.

Sadly, James quelled the rumors when he confirmed that the pair were simply friends and that there was nothing between them but pure love.

“No, we’ve been together for eight years,” James insisted.

“And there’s a lot of history there but we’ve made it clear to each other that we’re so much better as friends.

“We want to be in each other’s lives forever, but as partners.”

James went on to reveal that he knew Lydia would be on the moon if he found the love of his life.

“Oh, she’ll be happy when I see someone,” James grinned.

“I think she would be happier if I met someone else.”

It comes after the reality TV star admitted that he has his eye on another celebrity.

James shocked Real Dirty Dancing fans by admitting he has a huge crush on fellow country star Anthea Turner.

The TOWIE star opened up to his male co-stars about his feelings for former Blue Peter presenter, 61.

And Arg happily admitted that he had dreamed of her giving her the Blue Peter badge.

Speaking to her co-stars, Arg confessed, “Anthea does it for me. I used to watch her as a kid on the phone and dreamed of her giving me a Blue Peter badge.”

The dance crew immediately burst into laughter when singer Lee Ryan quipped, “” I thought you were going to say something else then! ”

Arg continued: “Anthea Turner, she’s as old as a fine wine! She looks exactly like when I was a kid or in fact she probably looks even better!”
