James Bye has revealed his fellow EastEnders star and serious reigning Come Dancing champion Rose Ayling-Ellis gave him advice before he hit the dance floor.
The 38-year-old British actor, who has played Martin Fowler in the BBC One drama series since 2014, is now competing in the new series of serious scripts.
Speaking with professional partner Amy Dowden before Sunday night’s show of the results, Bye said: “Rose is like a ray of sunshine and her only advice to me is to make the most of every second of it. passed very quickly.
“Remember she was there every week, she did everything fully and she said even that happened very quickly.
“You make friends very quickly, don’t throw anything away, just enjoy every moment and that’s what we’re doing to be fair.
“I don’t feel like I’m wasting a second, we’re working for it, every opportunity, and this week’s choreography is amazing and the song is great, so let’s hope I don’t spoil it. it again!”
Ayling-Ellis, 27, won the nineteenth series of Serious in 2021 with partner Giovanni Pernice after she became the first deaf contestant to compete in the celebrity dance competition.
Bye is currently at the penultimate spot on the Strictly chart after he failed to impress the judges with the nostalgic-themed song “What I Like About You” by The Romantics in its first week, get score 22 for his efforts.
Bye also revealed that 32-year-old Dowden visited him on the set of EastEnders so the pair could practice and keep up with their rigorous dance schedule while Bye was filming.
He said: “Amy went to EastEnders on a couple of real days this week and we made up a little bit and we showed it to some other people in EastEnders.”
Dowden added: “They’ve been so supportive, they’ve loved it, they’ve all cheered you on!”

Bye continued: “The support at EastEnders has been amazing. I really feel really, really lucky to have that team behind me. “
In the feedback Bye received after his performance last weekend, Anton Du Beke reflected on some of the mistakes the actor made, joking: “I like it, if you’re wrong, wrong. absolutely, just stand still and pick it up last”, but added that he thinks it’s a “good number”.
Actor Will Mellor and wildlife host Hamza Yassin are currently at the top of the Seriousness chart after both wowing the judges in their first week.
Two Pints Of Lager and A Packet Of Crisps star Mellor, 46, performed an electric hit to Ricky Martin’s Livin’ La Vida Loca with dance partner Nancy Xu, which impressed judge Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas to such an extent that they gave him a standing ovation and he finished with a score of 34.
Meanwhile, Yassin, 32, and his partner, Jowita Przystal, also shined with a fun foxtrot to Islands In The Stream by Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers for 34 points.
