James Corden vows to ‘go out with a bang’ when he leaves The Late Late Show
James Corden has promised to “go out with a bang” when he announced he will be leaving The Late Late Show next year.
Revealing the news in person during the US talk show’s final episode, he said the show had “changed my life” and vowed there would be “a lot of tears” when his tenure comes to an end.
Corden has extended his contract with CBS to present the show for another year before it ends in summer 2023.
“I started hosting this show seven and a half years ago and there is no other way to put it, it changed my life,” he said.
“I love it, I love all the people who work here, I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved, it’s exceeded my wildest, wildest dreams.
“When I started this journey, it was always meant to be just that, a journey, an adventure.
“I’ve never seen it as my ultimate goal and I never want this show to exceed its welcome, I love doing it and I really think that a year from now will be a good time to move on and.” see what’s out there. ”
Despite his status as the UK host of a US late night show, Corden has enjoyed immense success with the programme, which features numerous celebrity guests and special segments.
His popular Carpool Karaoke series, in which he drives to work with various musicians, sings their back catalog on the radio and talks about their careers, has starred Adele, Billie Eilish, Sir Paul McCartney and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

He promised viewers his final 12 months would be full of fan favorites and “other surprises” that would be “a blast”.
“We’re all committed to making this the best year we’ve ever had…we’re going to go out with a bang,” he said.

“There will be carpools and crosswalks and sketches and other surprises and there will be tears, there will be so many tears.”
He added: “It was the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make. I never took this job for granted. je. Not once.
“The fact that you’re seeing this…around the world…is an absolute privilege for me and for every single person who makes this show.
“Here’s to the next twelve months and it’s going to be great fun, I promise you.”
Corden took over as host of The Late Late Show in 2015 from Scottish-born comedian Craig Ferguson, who had been a presenter for 10 years.

Its first episode, which aired in March of that year, featured Hollywood superstar Tom Hanks as a special guest.
