James Tilley is enjoying a new role at Crawley.

The former Albion wideman impressed in a more central berth as the Reds came from three losses to a 3-3 draw at home to QPR.

His goal initiated the comeback against the championship opponent.

Reds boss Kevin Betsy said: “Tilley played really well pre-season and emerged today with a really good hit in the No 8 role.

“He’s a really nice footballer with and without possession.

“We want players who are adaptable. We’re not going to play a back three all season.

“He’s a good footballer. We need good footballers who can adapt.”

Tom Nichols from the penalty spot and Manny Adebowale also scored.

2,674 spectators – about half of them guests – enjoyed the entertainment.

Betsy said: “All the players who played today did their best, we just need to raise our level in certain areas of the pitch.”

Eastbourne Borough beat AFC Wimbledon 1-0 at home with Chris Whelpdale scoring in front of 753 spectators.

Javaun Splatt and a trialist scored as Whitehawk beat Dulwich Hamlet 2-0.
