Erling Haaland has completed his move to Man City and will join the Premier League in the summer but Jamie Carragher has doubts about how much he can improve Pep Guardiola’s side

Jamie Carragher doesn’t think the arrival of Erling Haaland will take Manchester City to the next level, so much is their consistency.
The Premier League side have announced the signing of the Norwegian, who will join from Borussia Dortmund for £63m. Haaland was long expected to join this summer as a release clause in his contract kicked in, making his transfer more viable.
City have won the race for his signature despite long-standing interest from elsewhere in the search for a striker. They missed Harry Kane over the summer but have now added a No. 9 to their ranks. Haaland has been productive since he took the stage and will add another dimension to Pep Guardiola’s side.
However, Carragher is unsure whether the striker’s arrival will propel City further. The Manchester side are already consistently picking up 90 points in the league and there is very little room for improvement. Instead, the Sky Sports pundit believes Haaland will make all the difference in European games.
He said: “It makes Man City stronger, of course it does. But I see it differently. There are so many points you can win in one season. Haaland won’t take City to another level, they are.” already at this level of 96 to 100 points per season.
“There will be small differences in certain games. You think back to Manchester City’s semi-final loss to Real Madrid – if Haaland plays, you would expect City to come through. I’m talking about making the difference there.”

“City don’t need to make a big leap – they’re already at the highest level. In terms of consistency, they’ve probably been the best in Europe for the last three or four years. It’s just about making a small difference.” greatest of all games, like the one against Real Madrid.”
Haaland is believed to have agreed a five-year deal that will see him take home £400,000-a-week at City plus bonuses after passing a medical on Monday. Guardiola has introduced a false 9 system in the last two seasons with Gabriel Jesus, the club’s only recognized forward – and even he is used sporadically by the Catalan.
No replacement has been found for Sergio Aguero but Haaland will also be joined this summer by highly-rated Argentinian youngster Julian Alvarez, who has signed from River Plate. Jesus has therefore been linked with an Etihad exit, with Arsenal touted as a possible destination.
