Liverpool destroyed Manchester United again with a 4:0 edge and Jamie Carragher showed Jurgen Klopps Work as key to his handling of the side that turned their season around.

When Luis Diaz joined Anfield from Porto in January, the Reds were about 13 points behind Manchester City in which First League and the title race seemed all but over. Fast forward to April 19 and the Merseyside giants have won 11 of their last 12 games and helped them reach the top after blasting the Red Devils for the second time this season.

The way Klopp has managed his squad has been top notch. Finding a way to line up Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and Diaz in a three-man attack would have been a dilemma for any coach. But aside from Salah, the other four players have been changed frequently and fairly to ensure they remain happy and fresh too.

When asked if Carragher thought Liverpool’s front three was their best combination at the moment, he agreed and also credited Klopp with the way he’s rotated his attacking players, which has improved the atmosphere at Anfield.

“Yes, I think it is. It’s been a bit up in the air for a while but he’s turned it around fantastically well at times,” he told Sky Sports. “And I think picking that front three over the weekend and then again tonight with that quick turnaround, I think that’s the best front three.”

Diaz scored one goal and assisted Mane in another, while Salah scored twice to take his tally to 22 goals this season. Jota, who has scored 15 goals this season, came off the bench and the Portuguese played his part in the fourth goal, underscoring his eagerness to intervene whenever possible.

Have your say! Can Liverpool win the title this season? Comment below.

Signing Diaz may have a cost Liverpool a whopping £49million, the most they’ve ever spent on an attacker, but it could turn out they’ll win a significant amount of prize money in the future. It’s well documented that Klopp sanctioned a January move for the Colombian for just that reason Tottenham launched a tender.

But in the end it lifted the entire team and set them on course for an incredible quadruple. As Carragher alluded to in his comment, the 25-year-old has helped transform the atmosphere at the club and bolstered Liverpool’s options to ensure they are not sidelined through fatigue or lack of form. “

“(Luis) Diaz coming in completely changed the mood in Liverpool and changed the strength of the squad. For me Liverpool have the advantage over Manchester City at the moment because they have options on the bench.”

The competition for places is stiffer, but instead of getting frustrated with a lack of football, these players get a chance to stare at each other – and the only winner is Liverpool. The title is still in Manchester City’s hands but the longer Klopp’s men keep the pressure on, the more difficult it becomes for Pep Guardiola’s side to withstand the heat of a rejuvenated and enticing Liverpool side.
