Jamiroquai announced as first title for Victorious 2023

’90s acid funk jazz band Jamiroquai has been announced as the first leads of the UK’s biggest urban festival.

His group, led by Jay Kay, will take to the stage on the first night of the Victorious festival, held at Southsea Common in Portsmouth, Hampshire, from August 25 to 27.

A festival spokesman said: “The band is back at their most vibrant style and with 30 years of rock-cold tunes in their closet including Virtual Insanity and the number one hit Deeper Underground. , expect a big set of solo songs and some seriously fun dancing.”

Other bands announced include Scandi-synthpop singer-songwriter Sigrid, indie rocker The Vaccines and alt-popsters The Divine Comedy.

Also included are singer-songwriter Beabadoobee, Aussie punks Amyl & The Sniffers, Mersey regional rock band The Coral, The Enemy, Katy B, Dylan, Inspiral Carpets, Crawlers, Newton Faulkner and Wunderhorse.

Festival organizer Andy Marsh said: “We’ve got some incredible names confirmed but that’s just a small part of what’s to come.

“We are really excited about Victorious 2023 and can’t wait to tell you more in the new year. It will be big.”

Previous heads at Victorious include Sam Fender, Stereophonics, Paulo Nutini, Madness and Elbow.
