Loose women: Jane Moore recalls first interview

Loose Women panelist Jane Moore recalled how she was “very nervous” when she first had to do an interview with a celebrity when she was just starting out as a journalist.

The presenter, 59, spoke about her early career on the latest season of the ITV show on Monday while discussing ‘memorable jobs’ with her co-hosts.

Jane explained her first position at a newspaper was with Solihull News, revealing that one of her initial assignments was to interview the late comedian Les Dawson.

“One of the first jobs I was sent to interview [him]. I just remember sitting there thinking ‘oh my god, I’m interviewing a celebrity’ and I was so nervous,” she said.

The columnist revealed earlier in the discussion that she did not expect to get a position at the now defunct Solihull News, because of competition in the journalism sector.

She said: “There are a lot of people who come in to apply for jobs and all the others have graduated, they have degrees. I don’t. [though]so I don’t think I’ll get the job [but] I did.”

Les passed away at the age of 62, in June 1993 from a heart attack.

Jane – who has worked for The Sun and The Sunday Times – recalls when she first worked in the industry, she thought to herself, “That’s it. This is the trajectory now.”
