JD Wetherspoons has 32 pubs for sale

Popular pub chain JD Wetherspoon has put 32 of their pubs up for sale across England.

The chain operates around 800 pubs in the UK and Ireland but has launched 32 of its English pubs.

The group spoke of a “commercial decision”.

CBRE and Savills have been contracted to market the pubs, which are located in town and inner-city locations. The caterer reports.

Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said: “Occasionally Wetherspoon will put some of its pubs up for sale.

“This is a commercial decision. We understand that customers and employees will be disappointed by this. The pubs will continue to operate as Wetherspoon branches until they are sold.”

Toby Hall, Senior Director at CBRE, said: “The excellent mix of locations in this portfolio is rare to find in the market.

“With more than half of the portfolio in London and the South East and other strong locations in the South West, Midlands and [north of England] We believe the pubs represent an excellent opportunity for existing pub owners and new entrants.”
