Jeep plans to launch four new electric vehicles by 2025

Jeep announced on Thursday that it would launch four all-electric SUVs by 2025 as part of its “Freedom is Electric” campaign.

The move comes as Dutch-based company Stellantis, which makes Jeep, Fiat and other vehicles, has pledged to have 100% of its European sales come from electric vehicles and 50% of US sales come from electric vehicles by 2030. The new vehicles will be fully marketed by 2025.

“Today’s news from the Jeep brand is another example of how our American brands are transforming to support our aggressive decarbonization plans,” said Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stellantis, in a press release.

“We offer exciting electrified products across our portfolio of 14 popular brands as we strive to launch an additional 28 all-new battery electric vehicles by 2024. We’re confident that our upcoming launches will delight our customers and make them love the great American brands they grew up with,” said Tavares.

New vehicles include an all-electric Wrangler 4xe, the Jeep Recon, the Wagoneer S and the Jeep Avenger.

The Recon is described as a vehicle similar to the Wrangler due to its off-road and open-door window capabilities. The Wagoneer S has a more luxurious feel and look, while the Jeep Avenger feels more like an everyday vehicle.

Jeep currently offers two plug-in hybrid models including the Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe.

“It is our ethical responsibility to ensure a sustainable future of mobility for our customers, our employees and our planet,” Tavares said in the press release.

“Jeep’s global SUV electrification initiative meets today’s market demands and we aim to lead the world,” he said.
