Jennifer Lawrence reveals Adele warned her against starring in Passengers

Jennifer Lawrence has revealed that fellow A-lister Adele warned her against filming the sci-fi movie Passengers.

He, the 32-year-old actress played Aurora Lane opposite Chris Pratt in Morten Tyldum’s 2016 film The Imitation Game.

Speaking to The New York Times, Lawrence said she realized she made the wrong choice with the film being relatively poorly received and misled the fan base she’d built from starring in The Hunger Games series.

She said, “I said, ‘Oh no, you’re here because I’m here, and I’m here because you’re here. Wait, who decided that this was a good movie? ‘”

The actress, whose fame skyrocketed after she played Katniss Everdeen in freaky adventure films, added: “Adele told me not to do it!

“She said, ‘I feel like the space movie is the new vampire movie.’ I should have listened to her.”

The two women are said to be good friends, with Adele, 34, having previously told Rolling Stone that Lawrence, among a handful of other celebrity friends, “humanized” her after she moved into a house near Lawrence’s in Beverly Hills.

Passengers saw Lawrence and Pratt, 43, as two passengers on an interstellar spaceship carrying thousands of people to a colony 60 light-years from Earth.

The pair form the central plot when they are awakened from a 90-year hibernation too soon.

Lawrence has previously suggested that passenger is a misjudged career move and in 2019 she took a step back from the limelight and took a break from acting.

Earlier this month, the star said she felt like a “commodity” after the success of The Hunger Games and her Oscar win.

Speaking at the BFI London Film Festival, Lawrence described her best actress for the Silver Linings Playbook in 2012 as “extremely overwhelming”, adding: “I think I’ve finally lost the feeling I’ve lost. control… between the Hunger Games and winning the Oscar. I think I’ve become so commoditized that I feel like every decision is a big collective decision because I don’t know what a big movie star is going to do next.

“I think back now and I think about years later, the loss of control and reaction when trying to get that back.

“I’m glad it stopped… I made some big changes and finally got my voice back in my head and now it feels personal to me for the first time in a while. long.”

Lawrence returned to screens last year in Adam McKay’s Netflix series Don’t Look Up, starring an all-star cast that includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Meryl Streep and Timothee Chalamet.

Lawrence will next be seen in Causeway, directed by Lila Neugebauer, in which she plays a soldier struggling to adjust to his life after returning home to New Orleans.
