Jeremy Clarkson becomes a grandfather after daughter Emily is born

Jeremy Clarkson has become a grandfather after his eldest daughter Emily welcomed their first child Arlo Rose.

His 62-year-old broadcaster shared an enlarged photo of him holding his newborn granddaughter, saying he was “the happiest man possible”.

On Sunday, Emily, 28, shared a black and white photo of herself holding a newborn in the hospital, confirming she was born on February 1 and bears the last name of her husband Alex Andrew.

She wrote on Instagram: “We are all doing great at home and just enjoying this time hanging out together as a family so will be back online in a little while.”

Clarkson’s Farm star Kaleb Cooper was among the first to congratulate the couple, along with YouTuber Zoe Sugg, Great British Bake Off finalist Laura Adlington and former Geordie Shore star Holly Hagan-Blyth.

It comes weeks after Clarkson faced backlash over a column he wrote in The Sun about the Duchess of Sussex, which has become the Foundation’s most-complained article. Independent Press Standards Organization (Ipso).

The column, for which both he and The Sun later apologized, drew criticism from high-profile figures and politicians, as well as from his daughter Emily.

In a statement shared on her Instagram story at the time, she said she was “against everything my dad wrote”.

She added: “My position has been and always has been clear when it comes to the media’s disregard for women, bullying and treatment of women.

“I want to make it clear that I oppose everything my father wrote about Meghan Markle and I still support those targeted by online hatred.”

Later in his apology on Instagram, Clarkson said his language was “disgraceful” and that he was “deeply sorry”.

He added: “I was devastated and so were everyone else. My phone went crazy. Very close friends were very angry. Even my daughter took to Instagram to denounce me.”
