Jermaine Pennant discusses ‘homebody’ lifestyle with Jess Impiazzi

Jermaine Pennant has said that his days of partying and drinking are behind him especially as he is enjoying his relationship with actress Jess Impiazzi.

The 39-year-old former soccer player and Celebrity Big Brother star paid tribute to Jess, 31, as he opened up about his affair with the former Ex on the Beach star.

Speaking to GB News, the former Arsenal and Birmingham City star said: “Yes, Jess is an absolutely amazing girl and she’s perfect for me.

“I hope she says the same. She’s really quiet.

“She doesn’t like being in the limelight unless it’s for work. And yes, it works.”

Jermaine continued: “We just got along and we had similar upbringings.

“She had a hard time and we were, you know, like a strong relationship and we see each other and it works and we’re both happy.”

Jermaine says he’s now settled down and finished partying, adding that this has ruined his career and prevented him from achieving more than he did.

He says late-night drinking has taken a toll on him physically and affected his performances in his sometimes controversial career.

Jermaine continued: “Yeah…especially as you get older.

“You can have a few here and there and get away with it but if you want to be on top of your game, you have to be professional.

“You have to stick with the elite, and like I said, I wasn’t guided when I was young, it was easy for me to get lost.

“I’ve never had an addictive personality but the nights of drinking have led to certain missteps.”

He added: “When I didn’t get to play, I was very disappointed. The next thing that can make me lose my mind is going outside. ”

Jermaine hailed Steve Bruce, his manager at Birmingham City, as the best he has worked with.

“The only person I have had someone I really respond to is Steve Bruce,” he said. He is probably the most suitable manager for me and he understands me.

“Sometimes I drive him crazy, he won’t bite his nose into his face, he won’t leave me on the bench or not play me because I’m one of the stars.

“He would always play tricks on me, in return I respected that and I gave him that extra money in return for that.”

Jermaine admits he has a few regrets and off-field incidents that have prevented him from achieving all of his dreams.

He continued: “There are a few regrets, yes, and I take full responsibility for not being able to reach the top, I could have achieved, playing for the England national team. .

“One of my dreams is to play for Liverpool and the second dream is to play in the Champions League final, which every player dreams of. So my third one played for England.

“I think if it weren’t for the incidents off the pitch… not leading from the straight and narrow, I would have reached those heights.”
