Jessica Alba Reveals Why She Goes To Therapy With Her Daughters

American actress Jessica Alba has talked about going to therapy with her two daughters, allowing them a “safe space” to socialize with her.

lba, 41, gained recognition at the age of 19 for her role as Max Guevara in the TV series Dark Angel, a role for which she received a Golden Globe nomination.

Speaking to Glamor UK, Alba said she started going to therapy with her eldest daughter Honor Marie and now she also goes with her younger daughter Haven Garner.

She said: “I said, ‘Look, I’m not perfect. I won’t know all the answers, but I want to be a great parent.

“And what you like and don’t differ from what your sister likes and doesn’t like. And I will make mistakes.

“This is a safe space, you can’t get in trouble – tell me what I’m doing wrong, or you want me to do it differently.

“Or how do you want me to discipline you when you mess up? What does that look like to you? And how would you like to be treated so that you can still feel your dignity intact? ‘”

Alba married her husband and child father Cash Warren in 2008 after the pair met on the set of Fantastic Four and the couple also share a son named Hayes.

The actress confirmed that the first time she met film producer Warren, 43, he gave her a bill, signed with a dollar sign – which coincides with his own – saying: I really like you.”

“True story, he did!” Alba told Glamor UK.

She explained that they decided to run away when she was heavily pregnant with her first child, saying: “We ran away and I think I was nine months pregnant!

“It was not planned. Literally, ‘Honey, do you have anything to do this morning?’ And he said, ‘No.’ So I said, ‘Should we go to court and get married?’ And he said, ‘Yeah.’ And then I said, ‘Can we get the waffles later because I have a doctor’s appointment? Will you come to my doctor’s appointment? ‘

“And that’s how it happened!”

Alba also reflects on her childhood and growing up in a deeply devout Catholic family. “I grew up in survival mode,” she said. That’s pretty much what I was born with.

“My parents didn’t have a safety net, they lived off paychecks to pay checks… They were just like, ‘This is your life.’ And I said, ‘Here’s some bullshit. I want a better life than that. I don’t want to be in survival mode all the time. ‘”
