Jimmy Carr has been rewarded with a new TV series despite recent anger over his offensive Holocaust joke.
His Netflix comedian Dark Material special has sparked outrage but he’s been told by Channel 4 bosses that they’ll be rerunning his game show I Literally Just Told You .
The broadcaster announced running eight episodes of the show – which first aired last December – and an executive defended Carr’s right to tell offensive jokes.
Channel 4 director Ian Katz commented recently: “I defend the right of comedians to make offensive jokes and if they can’t, comedy is dead.”

He added: “Jimmy does not endorse any point of view that conflicts with C4 values, and just as we as a broadcaster exist to serve and represent many communities, we do. should always be the place with the most voices.”
Speaking to commercial website Broadcast, Katz said Channel 4 will not be broadcasting the gypsy genocide joke in the special because it will be fouling the Ofcom code.
“It’s hard to make statements that are hard and fast,” says Katz.

“The Ofcom Code stipulates that material that could be offensive must be justified by clear context, and we make those appeals day in and day out. It’s really hard to generalize, but you do. look at each program to see what it’s worth,” he added.
Jimmy Carr: His dark stuff was described on Netflix as “finding humor in the darkest places in this comedy special.”
The streaming service added: “This special features Jimmy’s trademark dry wit, irony, and includes a number of jokes that Jimmy calls ‘the end of his career’.”
The show was filmed in front of a live audience at the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend-on-Sea, Essex.
