Vladimir Putin says Russia is being “cancelled” by the West.
JK Rowling has hit back after Vladimir Putin compared himself to the author in an astounding tirade in which he claimed the West would reject Russia.
She reacted strongly this afternoon, saying: “Criticisms of Western abort culture may not be best voiced by those who are currently slaughtering civilians for the crime of resistance, or imprisoning and poisoning their critics. #IStandWithUkraine.”
The Russian President cited the Harry Potter author as an example of what’s happening in the West, adding that he likes canceling people, comparing it to Russia’s cancellation.
The Harry Potter author has been widely condemned for her comments and views on transgender people in recent years.

Putin said Ms Rowling was ousted “simply for failing to meet gender rights demands”.
In a video call meeting with officials and cultural figures in Russia, he said: “They are now trying to denounce our country.
“I’m talking about progressive discrimination against everything related to Russia.”

He went on to compare “Abort Kultur” to the Nazi attempt to burn books in the 1930s.
He added: “We remember the footage of when they burned books.
“Something like this is unimaginable in our country and thanks to our culture we are insured against it.
