“Among the thousands of letters and emails I received were disillusioned members of Labour, the Greens, the Lib Dems and the SNP. Women are scared, offended, and angry at being deaf because of their well-founded worries. But women are organizing.
“Now that @Keir_Starmer has publicly misrepresented equality legislation, another sign that Labor can no longer be trusted to defend women’s rights. But I repeat: women are organizing across all parties, and their determination and anger are growing. “
Rowling appeared to be referring to comments allegedly made by the Labor leader in an article in The Times.
When asked about the definition of woman, he told the newspaper: “A woman is an adult woman, and additionally a transgender woman is a woman, and that’s not just my point of view – it’s not just my opinion. really the law.
“It’s 2004’s composite effects pass law .” [Gender Recognition] Action and 2010 [Equality] Act. So that’s my point. That is also the law in the UK. “

While LGBTI groups welcome the reforms, some feminist organizations fear the loss of spaces reserved for women – such as refuges, hospital wards, restrooms and changing rooms – when that may affect the safety of women.

“I think the 2004 act needs to be reformed, I think the 2010 bill, the Equality Act, giving women a safe space is right. And so I’m very upfront about this.”
