Spurs overtook their local rivals in the top four Beat Newcastle 5-1 last Sunday and the Gunners didn’t react like them the next day suffered a 3-0 defeat at Crystal Palace. That leaves the two north London clubs level on points, but Arsenal have a game in hand above all else.
West Ham and Manchester United are a further three points behind and remain outsiders for qualifying Champions League. However, Cole is optimistic. Arsenal will keep their nerve to prevail in the hard-fought top-four race after seeing them dig deep Win 1-0 at Aston Villa March.
“Chelsea will do it. I can see Arsenal finishing fourth too. I think it will be Chelsea and Arsenal in the last two positions,” said the former England international JOE. “Having the points on the board is huge. I covered Arsenal’s win at Aston Villa and it was one of those where Arsenal may have been beaten in recent years.
“I know they slipped against it crystal palace But I just think Arsenal will have enough, what Mikel Arteta did there was brilliant. I think Chelsea will be third and Arsenal should be fourth.
But the 59-year-old has concerns over Arteta’s growing injury list with Kieran Tierney and Thomas Partey compete to be fit before the end of the season. “I hope you’re right. I was working on the Palace game and we lost Kieran Tierney which is a real blow,” Smith said in response to Cole.

“Partey also got injured and was really good, so that’s a concern. They’re just looking to recover now because it would have hurt the team and their confidence.
“They were really rolled over by Palace, as were some of Arsene Wenger’s teams in his final years at the club. Arsenal are better than that now so I think and hope it was just a bad day at the office. But they have to fight back Brighton on Saturday.
“Hopefully they can sneak into the top four but Spurs are doing something under Antonio Conte so it’s going to be tight.” As mentioned by Smith, Arsenal host Brighton on Saturday while Spurs travel to Aston Villa. Manchester United return to action away from home everton and West Ham meet Brentford.
